The Pilates Method is a well-loved, non-impact training method used to effectively and gently develop and recruit strength in the core musculature (abdomen, spine, pelvic floor). Other typical benefits are improved flexibility, healthy anatomical alignment, ease of movement, and deep body awareness. Exercises emphasize strong and supple movement, precision, fluidity, breathwork & mindfulness.

The matwork is a classic sequence of floor exercises which move the body through a delightful range of postures; the body's own weight is worked against gravity in a safe and effective manner. As the muscles of the core are strengthened, many people find relief from compressed joints and chronic tension in other areas such as lower back, shoulders, hips, and neck. Breathwork coupled with exercise of the deep core muscles, releases and expels stuck energy - leaving the body and mind feeling refreshed and energized.

In a new fusion group class, two fun and healthful modalities are combined.
Similar to yoga, Qigong is an ancient Asian movement practice, thousands of
years old. Based on the flow of body energy through meridian channels, Qigong
promotes overall health of mind and body. Graceful, flowing movements of arms,
legs and torso combine with breathing techniques to refresh the flow of energy
in the body and promote tranquility of mind. We will begin and end each class
with a simple form called the Ba Duan Jin (“Eight Silken Movements”) –
accompanied by traditional Chinese music. Additional forms will be learned over
time. Pilates mat-work is a well-loved, non-impact training method used to
develop core strength, flexibility, healthy anatomical alignment, and ease of
movement. By supporting posture with the muscles of the core, movements of the
arms, legs&  neck become more fluid, strong, and graceful. Thus, these two
modalities provide a unique and beautiful compliment. Mind-body imagery and
breathwork cultivate internal awareness, release chronic tension, and stimulate
healthy energy flow …. help quiet the busy mind   …. while refreshing the body!
