Point of Contact - Pilates Method - Energy Flow - Functional Movement

Anita Ginther, Owner, Instructor

Anita's goal in teaching is to provide a peaceful and joyful space for each client's unique personal experience and goals for health. Her holistic teaching style incorporates creative body-mind imagery, intuitive and kinesthetic talent, and a variety of techniques that facilitate healthy energy flow and anatomical function during movement. She draws upon a strong background in the energetic and physical dynamics of dance, as well as scientific and academic training in anatomy and biology.

Anita is a professional biologist, as well as mind-body specialist and healing facilitator. As such her work is grounded strongly in the multi-layered connections between body, mind, and spirit - functional anatomy, movement, and intuition. Her professional offerings are based on the wisdom of both science and spirituality. As such, she believes all growth and healing can be assisted by many complementary ways of knowing, and the pathways of self-reflection that are intrinsically present in both the body and mind.

Anita enjoys personal practices of yoga, dance, and martial arts. She has been teaching and performing in dance and movement for over 13 years. Her dance career began in 1999 while she was an amateur pro-am DanceSport competitor, earning a U.S. National Runner-up and three times a U.S. National grand finalist position in Pro-Am Latin Rhythm. She then taught ballroom and Latin dance as a pro-am instructor and competitor. She began private training in the classical Pilates Method in 2006 and earned a professional teaching certification through Advanced: Level V mat and equipment. She holds an advanced training certificate in Japanese acupressure (energy bodywork), and is an apprentice instructor of Chinese Qigong. To broaden her education in functional movement, Anita is currently engaged in instructor training for The Franklin Method of imaging, biomechanics, and anatomically based movement. Anita is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance and is registered with the National Dance Council of America. Anita is a research scientist with a PhD from UW-Madison (Zoology) specializing in biology and social behavior.

Anita has augmented her education through ongoing coaching in somatic and psychological processes, and through courses such as those in the UW-Madison department of Professional Development & Applied Studies. The emphasis of such study has centered on the needs of clients recovering from stress, anxiety, and psychological trauma. Working in tandem with a clinical psychotherapist, she has provided professional assistance and movement-based training for clients working on the in-body aspects of healing.

Anita began her own movement education business in 2007. She teaches private lessons and offers acupressure sessions for Point of Contact, LLC and offers group classes in Qigong and Pilates at various locations throughout the greater Madison area and Blue Mounds, including: the Point of Contact Home Studio, and the Blue Mounds Pilates Center.
